Team Spotlight: Bonjour Brian!

Dear friends,

Please meet Brian M, an incredible member of the Family Dinner team. Brian does it all. Packs coolers, hauls things around and lovingly delivers shares. He will also eat almost anything you put in front of him which is basically a job requirement around here.

Brian will soon be leaving us to hike the Appalachian Trail where he will willingly give up a comfy bed and consistently clean socks to hike thousands of miles along the East Coast. We will miss him terribly but wanted to shine a spotlight on him here and ask a few questions

The ground is frozen, the trees are barren and the weathermen are being vilified for the atrocity of their predictions this week that almost drove us to the brink of insanity.

It feels like we are deep in the belly of winter, grumbling about our achy joints, snow days that weren't and the overabundance of root vegetables.

Pasta with Pizzaz

Meet Hala and Dean Matarazzo, the dynamic duo behind Deano's Pasta in Somerville.

We're having a bit of a pasta party here at Family Dinner this week with their delicious goods coming into the Vegetarian shares (as well as the Ravioli of the Week and the Fresh Pasta of the Week in MA as well!) They are 4th generation pasta makers, one of the oldest in the country and have been hand-crafting deliciousness since 1947.

Valentine's Day

There are a couple events in the coming week and we have all the treats you need to keep you well fed during the festivities! Not only are we looking at Valentine's Day, The Super Bowl and Mardi Gras but today's Groundhog Day AND National Tater Tot day. What a time to be alive.

All these festivities call for good food and gathering good people. As always, your pals at Family Dinner are here for you. We have a Valentine's Day/T Swift Watch Party pop up live on the site.

Producer Spotlight - Queen's Greens

Good morning!

In this week's shares, we're bringing some tasty, tunnel grown spinach from Queen's Greens. Based in Amherst, MA, they're one of our favorite winter partners, growing a variety of tender greens that provide a needed change of pace from the heartier winter veg that is occupying all of our plates and soup bowls.

We wanted to share a few fun facts about Family Dinner, and about life.

Pick of the Week: Have you met our Picks of the Week section in the store? We have a wonderful rotating selection of breads, cheese, pasta, pastry, vegetarian soup, mezze and more! You can add them to your on-going subscription or make your choices week to week. Some of our favorite mezze are the grape leaves from Magic Bites, the tzatziki from Sophia's (made with her incredible yogurt) and the black olive tapenade from Dave's.

Why don't scallops share?

We got a gorgeous bounty delivered from Gabe at Cold Spring Ranch this past week, including the pork butts making their way into your shares, as well as a beautiful collection of steaks. Waiting to grace your cast irons, we have Ribeyes, Sirloins and Porterhouses, all grass fed in New Portland, ME. We've huddled all these masterpieces into a section of the store we're calling THE MEATS.

Cooking for fun.

The holidays brought with them a tremendous flurry of activity and effort - and somehow seemed to have passed in the briefest of instants. Anyone else exhausted?

Now I love me some holiday eating and a traditional meal as much as anyone but sometimes drawing in the lines of tradition can feel constraining. I'm excited to get back into food that's a little more whimsical, maybe a little spicer- cooking just for the hell of it.

Christmas Couch Time.

Sure, spending time with your friends and family is great. But nothing is greater than the joy of settling into the open arms of your couch for some movie time in your sweatpants.

We polled some of the Family Dinner Family about their holiday favorites. To my great surprise, none of these goobers picked Die Hard. Not even Maggie.

Hello,

Our Holiday 2023 store is live! We have a limited of Ham Roasts for your table (and your leftover sammies), a Spinach gruyere strata to make Christmas breakfast a breeze, and bake at home sticky buns from Forge to make your house smell just heavenly while you rewatch a Christmas Story for the ten bllionth time. And don't forget the Lobster Ravioli. Yeah, I said it. Lobster Ravioli. Go get you some.
