I'll get to the Dogs in a minute, but first..

It is Thanksgiving ordering time! We have your turkeys, chickens, veggies, stuffing (sausage or vegetarian), PIIIIIIES and more!

A few important notes:

1. Ordering deadline for turkeys is Sunday, Nov. 10.

2. Ordering deadline for everything else is Sunday, Nov. 17.

3. All orders for Thanksgiving items (except pies) will arrive with your normal shares on Saturday, 11/23 or Tuesday, 11/26. All birds will arrive frozen! If you want to have time to put a fancy brine of your bird, we can switch you from a Tuesday to a Saturday delivery - just let us know!

4. Pies from Forge Baking Co. are fresh and are only being delivered on Tuesday, 11/26.

Speaking of being thankful.... ON TO THE DOGS!

This morning I was walking down my street while taking a work call - a mundane weekly task made more enjoyable by the swooshing and whooshing of leaves under my feet.

Out of the neighbor's front door walked a woman I didn't know with their goofy, joyful Golden Retriever, Ozzy. That dog is made of smiles and floofy hair and happiness. She lead Ozzy to her minivan and reached for the sliding door to get him in. As the door opened I saw that the minivan was full of... other Golden Retrievers! A blue Toyota Sienna full of a baker's dozen of the happiest little Muppets you can imagine.

While still on my call I burst into a loud, unattractive laugh that can only be described as a "guffaw". I stopped and stared at the scene letting the laugh take over and move through me.

The door closed and a car full of wagging, goobery tails made its way down the street. What joy.

Walking back up the hill I was amazed how bright and light I felt. I had needed that laugh, needed an unexpected and uncontrolled jolt of happiness. We have all been so tense and overwhelmed heading into next week - like there is a furious static is taking over.

This weekend, I am going to focus on chasing little bits of joy, maybe while cooking. Some cheesy pasta should cure what ails me. And if pasta isn't your panacea, may we suggest a visit to Golden Dog Farm in VT, pictured above, where you and your overworked besties can pay to romp around with Goldens for an hour and chase your blues away.

Take a deep breath friends. I hope a big laugh comes your way today.

Recipes

Flounder, Kale and Couscous Roll-Ups - Fluke is a flounder. And flounder loves being when punched up with a tasty filling like this one. Another classic stuffing, and a bit more bougie: crab. (Spoiler: I'm making the crab one. 🎩)

Skillet Pork Tenderloin with Mustard and Smoked Paprika - I can't get over how flavorful the pork tenderloin is from Short Creek Farm. A result of happy pigs rooting around in pastures, it's just got so much more flavor than your typical grocery store fare. And this treatment sounds simple and delicious.

Seared Napa Cabbage with Miso Butter - I'm going to quote directly from page: "Beautifully charred Napa cabbage paired with a rich, umami miso butter. Suitable decadence for the humble vegetable."
