Going, going, gone!

You may have heard us talk about the incredible work of Community Cooks - a Somerville based organization that is dedicated to feeding vulnerable populations and our neighbors in need. (It seems we can't shut up about it!)

They do this work from the belief that good, healthy food is a right and that it helps a person thrive in our communities. As a non-profit they have to fundraise tirelessly to keep the engine of their mission humming.

They have launched their annual fundraiser Gone with the Gala and there are a couple ways to get involved. First, you can donate , any amount helps and 100% of that donation goes to support fighting food insecurity. A HUGE thank you to folks who already have.

Second, you can get your competitive juices flowing by bidding on items in the auction! There are incredible items on the block from so many of our friends at Family Dinner. Check out:

- A 1:1 makeup consultation with the insanely talented artist Tara from Tada. Skincare, beauty tips and more! This woman is not only a genius, she's wonderful to be around and will laugh at your jokes.

- Gift cards to Pod in Cambridge, Trina's Starlite Lounge (my favorite place on this planet besides my couch), Diesel, Sarma, Sofra and much more!

You can take us with you! Get in touch and we'll put together a custom package of goodies to keep you sated while you're enjoying the Cape or Bar Harbor. If you're expecting to be away for several weeks or months we can put your subscription on hold.

Roasted Pollock Wrapped in Bacon With Lemon Mayonnaise and Asparagus: Showstopper dinner but this version is pretty quick and easy.

Pasta With Spigarello, Bacon And Garlic: An Italian heirloom green, the spigariello (which is also, perhaps more authentically, spelled with only the one "i") from Kitchen Garden Farm, is an awesome change of pace from the other leafy greens we get this time of year. Taste is kind of in between sweeter broccoli rabe and kale. Will be amazing alongside the super delicious bacon from Short Creek in this pasta dish.

Quick and Easy Spicy Sauteed Calamari: Seafood, olives, capers, a bit of heat... The stuff of dreams, right here. But also, it's damn easy so it's also the stuff of reality. Excellent summer eating.
