I'd like to sincerely apologize to anyone who grew up in the 90's and is familiar with the hauntingly awful Red Hot Chili Peppers song I referenced in the title of this email. However, the refrain of "Give it away, Give it Away, Give it Away now" does feel apt for the coming season.  (Extra apologies to anyone now drowning in memories of 7th grade slow dancing to "Under the Bridge", woof.)

Working to fight food insecurity in our neighborhoods has always been at the core of Family Dinner. In the past year we have donated over $31,894.90 worth of local food to our friends at the Greater Boston Food Bank, La Colaborativa in Chelsea, My Brother's Table in Lynn, the Woburn Food Pantry, Elevate Youth, Lifebridge in Gloucester and many more. 

Over $11,000 of that has come from you, our amazing community and the rest from Family Dinner's commitment to give back.  This Holiday season we want to do even more and would love for you to join us.  There are a few ways to join the love:

Our friends at Carhartt Market Street in Lynnfield will be doing a Toy Drive for our partners at La Colaborativa in Chelsea. Folks will donate toys under their tree and enter to win a month of Family Dinner deliveries. 

We will be doing a canned food/dry goods/ baby supplies drive for La Colaborativa and the Portland Food Bank. Starting Saturday 12/11 and going until 12/20 leave out any packs of diapers, baby wipes, canned food (soups, beans, vegetables) or dry goods (pasta, cereal, rice) and your Family Dinner driver will collect them. We will sort and deliver to our partners. Last year we had 7 full pick-up trucks full of donations!

We will be donating all the fresh veggies to cover 200 Holiday meal boxes packed by St. Vincent de Paul in Taunton, MA. Each box will have several pounds of local carrots, potatoes, onions and more to brighten folks' holiday tables. You can join us by contributing to our Food Bank page.
