Busy Bees

Dear friends,

Thank you all for the lovely messages about Brian, our amazing teammate who will be headed out on the AT in the coming weeks (what a lunatic!) Tomorrow is his last day until Fall.

However, in true Brian fashion, this intrepid lunatic will be running a test for Family Dinner tomorrow. We want to buy vans for our city routes, to make driving more efficient and to eliminate food miles/ CO2 emissions. He will be delivering to about 40 of your tomorrow in a van, so If you see Brian this weekend or next, please give him a wave and wish him good luck!

If you feel like supporting the dreams of this overly-energetic youth, feel free to add a few bucks to his warm food and beer fund. I know he would appreciate it.

Soup's On!

This week we are so happy to have a new Chef in the house. Meet Chef Stephanie Clifford, better known as Auntie Fanny. We know her through the wonderful folks at Littleburg and she prepped a beautiful pumpkin quinoa soup for our vegetarians this week. Here's a wee bit more about her:

"I’m Stephanie known in the Restaurants as Auntie Fanny. I worked in the dental field most of my adult life but loved cooking for friends and family. I wanted to see what it would be like working in the restaurant industry but I wanted to start right. Dish washer. I started washing dishes after my dental work day in a small vegan taco shop in Somerville, Taco Party. I eventually worked my way up to line cook and quit the dental field.

From there I started dabbling in catering and working part time at my buddy Graham’s popups, Littleburg. Eventually, during the pandemic I moved to Littleburg full time helping to feed the front lines during the shutdown and became Sous Chef.

I then had the opportunity to purchase the old Taco Party Food truck so I went on my own and created Fanny’s, a plant based pub grub and comfort food food truck/popup.

My goal is to make good food that everyone enjoys whether they are vegan or not. "

Recipes

Southwest Sweet Potato, Black Bean and Rice Skillet - There's something magic about black beans and sweet potatoes. Especially when smothered with cheese.

Monkfish Curry - Monkfish, sweet and firm, is perfect foil for some flavorful, spicy and rich curry action. And since most folks who don't like monkfish can't deal with its appearance (totally understandable), a curry is a prefect way to, as they say, put lipstick on a pig.

Baked Flounder Recipe with Lemon Butter Garlic Sauce - Fish, butter, garlic, lemon. Fin. (Although, I'd toss some capers in there, too.)
