To the moon and back.

I have to admit to having gotten a bit obsessed with the Artemis 2 mission at the start of this month. Though they were navigating what seemed like immeasurable blank space they were tethered to us back here by the depth of their curiosity, their bravery and their love for eachother. Beautiful and mesmerizing events were unfolding daily. At one point the astronauts called back to Mission Control with a proposition, to name a feature on the Moon Carroll after the Commander Reid Wiseman's late wife, they called her "family" and said this feature was a "bright spot". After their request the astronauts, these brilliant courageous men and women, embraced each other - suspended in the air floating through that moment. The video is a stunning slice of humanity.

Closer to Earth we have bright spots too this week at Family Dinner. Tomorrow is the first day we will be delivering to a Centerboard home in Lynn, MA. Centerboard provides holistic support to adults and youth in Greater Lynn and on the North Shore facing unimaginable difficulties such as housing insecurity, trauma, exploitation, domestic violence, and substance use—offering not just housing but also a wide range of services designed to help each person heal, gain stability, and pursue a safe and stable life.

We will be making these donations weekly and also delivering monthly hot meals.

We recently and quite by happenstance met some of the folks who run this wonderful facility for kids in Department of Children & Families. We learned from them that the home was on the site of a school my father, Andy Baumgartner, used to run: United Cerebral Palsy. This space in Lynn is extremely close to my heart, it's where my parents adopted me from, it is part of how we became a family. The folks from Centerboard invited me to come see the space, to return home in a way. I wish I could say that this big old broad kept herself together during the tour but that would be a lie. I saw my father in the entryway, heard his big laugh around every corner. In that moment I too felt suspended in air, looking for a tether.

To be able, through this little company, to bring food into that home fills me with a boundless joy and gratitude for the work that is being done there.

I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING. That intro from Erin is... pretty amazing. Tough act to follow but here goes:

Steaks - We get such amazing product from Gabe and Molly at Cold Spring Ranch. Not least of which are the ridiculously tasty steaks. Here's a good primer. And for all you who are a bit unsure about what to do with things like chuck, trust me that with a little TLC and knowledge, these are truly some of the tasty, beefiest cuts.

Rosemary Roasted Potatoes and Apples - The starchy side for that steak.

Arugula Salad - The perfect salad for that steak. Or perhaps top it (or the hake) with Arugula Chimichurri.

Lastly, we've really lined up some pita stuffing goodness so fry up that falafel or thinly slice that steak. Arugula, hummus, thinly sliced radish, maybe some of the tirokafteri. You're not gonna go wrong with any of these.
