There's Always Room for Pie...
"You can't please everyone, you're not pizza." Those words, uttered by some infinitely eloquent sage (was it Lao Tzu? Brené Brown? I can't recall), couldn't be more true.
The world seems intensely hectic, a pandemic-laden carnival ride we can't seem to get off of or get reprieve from. And as it spins faster and faster, there is also no reprieve from the demands on our time or attention. We pour the same amount of ourselves into an ever-increasing amount of cups, and somehow always feel like we're letting people down, not doing enough.
It's either perfectly foolish or perfectly apt to recall that there are only so many cups we can pour ourselves into, and that we are not, in fact, pizza.
But the good news is that pizza is pizza and it is there for you. As are tacos, by the way--they're equally present in your moments of need.
The other day I pressed the eject button, defenestrated my laptop (metaphorically), and decided that self-care meant pizza and Netflix. So while eating a pizza (pineapple, I don't want to fight about this), I turned on the newest season of Chef's Table which is, you guessed it, all about pizza. Check. It. Out. Watch Chef Ann Kim make an argument for kimchi on pizza, or Chef Sarah Minnick pull local herbs and unconventional veggies onto her pies. What a joy. Escapism in the form of melted cheese and crackling crust.
If you had been looking for permission to press the eject button and take a moment to move quite slowly, or not at all, this is it. Netflix and Family Dinner are here for you. This week in Massachusetts we have those fluffy cloud-like pitas from Sharonna who are ready to be all pizza-d up. In Maine we have amazing local tortillas, chorizo, and salsa. It's pizza and taco time, people. You deserve it.

*Sharonna Pita - These delicious and fluffy pitas do not have preservatives in them. If you are not planning on finishing them within ~2 days, I highly suggest popping them in the freezer. Just put them in the toaster to thaw and try to wait for them to cool down but you can do what I do and go for a hachahchata method because I am too impatient.

Philly Steak and Cheese - You got the steak, you got the cheese, you got the peppers and mushrooms, and you can put it on a Pita. Do I need to spell it out any more, this is a wonderful week for the delicious-ness from Philly.
Kale Chips - Cause, why not! OR do an Autumn Kale Salad with your Delicata, too!
Delicata Squash Dip - Toast up those seeds, too and dip away with your pita and maybe some kale chips? I really shouldn't prep these recipes while hungry...
Sautéed Wasabina - It says it's the best, simplest way for mustard greens so I'mma believe what I read on the internet! Lol, not really, but this does sound delicious.
Grilled Mushrooms Antipasto - Enjoy some of the last bits of summer with an antipasto OR go a bit warmer with Seared Mushrooms with Thyme and Garlic.
Leek Risotto - If you cannot tell, I am so ready for sweater weather... This sounds delightful on a couch curled up with my Jack Russell Oliver, who will be side-eyeing me trying to get a bit for himself.
