Good Morning Friends,

Does anyone else feel like life is the opening scene of the Wizard of Oz? We're all being gobbled up by various tornados, waiting for a house to fall on us?

Maybe that's too fatalistic for a newsletter about local food but that's the feeling I get. That folks feel like everything is barreling by so damn fast it's hard to take a moment, pump the brakes and realize a flying house isn't actually coming your way.

I find those pauses in little moments of whimsy that catch my eye, make me pause and enjoy a moment. It's the small things.

And before you think your girl here has been pink-pilled by Brené Brown or whomever it was who penned Eat, Pray, Love (God help us) - let me tell you that moment of quiet whimsy came to me not in the form of a moment by the ocean or in a restful Savasana but a bunch of organically grown chives (pictured).

These bright beauties came through our shares last week from Clark Farm. I put mine in a mason jar in the fridge where their audacious purple flowers stand out against the drabness of root veggies and heartier greens. Every opening of the refrigerator door is a reminder for optimism. That the weather will eventually turn, soon it will be strawberry season and time to be grilling in your best jorts.

A small little reminder that summer is coming, and a flying house is not.

Blueberry Burrata Salad - Well doesn't this sound like spring incarnate? And doesn't these seem like we planned to have blueberries, burrata and arugula in shares this week? I wish we were that smart.

Rhubarb Crisp - Oh man. This and strawberry shortcake are my fav desserts. The rhubarb will be last in prime condition for awhile so feel free to hold off till the weather actually feels like May. You know what won't last? This rhubarb crisp that you and your household will devour.

Rhubarb-Shallot Crostini - Want something a bit more on the savory side? THIS. Yum.
