The Good Word

The Good Word

We are always trying to tell more and more folks about the mission of Family Dinner.  That we want to bring you the highest quality, best tasting local food around and use data and predictive analytics to eliminate waste in the system and give small family farms the chance to compete at a larger scale. (Insert Family Dinner cheerleading emoji here.)

So many of you have joined us, picking up your megaphones and sharing this service with your friends and family. We are so, so grateful. The currency of word of mouth referrals is the sharpest arrow in any small business' quiver.

Now we would love to broaden the target and find way to serve the amazingly diverse communities, groups and workplaces that you are a part of. We would love to have you help us share the good news once again and we want to reward you for sharing the love.

If you belong to a local synagogue, PTA, juggling group, book club, Miming studio or other collective of like-minded folks who you think would benefit from enjoying local food from Family Dinner - Let Us Know!  We believe in the power and importance of local food and are excited to share it with more and more people.

If you would be willing to post to that crew's Slack, FB, or carrier pigeon network and share a bit of information- we would give you a specific discount code that makes Family Dinner 50% off for their first share.  We would also give you a free share and/or some fresh Family Dinner swag. (The hoodies are hot off the presses. I can attest that they pair extremely well with drinking wine and ignoring social engagements.) Free shares or swag not your thing? You prefer compensation in bags of Jaju Pierogi or Forge brownies? We see you, and we got you.

So if you want to share with your broader community:

1. Shoot us an email hello@sharefamilydinner.com telling us about the group(s) you would like to share with.

2. We'll send you a quick blurb on us and a create a discount specific to your crew(s).

3. You share with you folks, we get the chance to bring them the best local food around and also to make sure your next share is on us.

Pro Tip!

This works for offices too! If you think your workplace would benefit from a local food partnership, we would love, love, love to talk to your HR rep, Wellness Coordinator/Benefits Guru.

Please let us know if you have any questions; hello@sharefamilydinner.com

As always, thank you.

Much love,

Erin, Tim and the Family Dinner Fam

RECIPES (MA)

(from Shannon)

Grilled Swordfish with Tomatoes - Four steps to a delicious dinner!

Sausage Stuffed Cabbage - Try something new! a different way to enjoy sausage and cabbage!

Mushroom and Onion Tart - This looks more like a work of art but all the more delicious to eat then!

Crispiest Ever Potatoes - My brother introduced me to this recipe a few years ago and I have never made potatoes in a different way since.

Carrot and Radish Slaw - A nice light slaw for lunch? on a grain bowl? with seitan? or pulled pork? Anyone else dream of pulled pork? YES!

Pan fried Smelts - 20 minutes still dinner!

A pear of recipes:

Pear Tart Tatin - If you're looking for a fun and delicious project, here's one for you!

Korean BBQ Galbi Marinade - Another way for you to use up pears if you don't want to just devour them straight up!

RECIPES (ME/NH)

(from Joe)

Sausage, Pepper and Potato Skillet - Easy and tasty weeknight cooking that's perfect for winter (and spring, and summer and fall). And feel free to throw in some carrots and celeriac.

Tofu Katsu Sando with Celeriac and Apple Slaw - This is making my mouth water.

Baked Mediterranean Sole Fillet - Remember summer? Me neither... but this might help.

Beef and Radish Soup - Maangchi! Like lots of folks, this household got obsessed with Maangchi during the pandemic. She rules. Great use of the shaved beef and the purple bravo radish (which is a fancy daikon) in this classic Korean soup. (Pickle some of the daikon and/or carrots for a crunchy, cool banchan to serve alongside.)

Sautéed Celeriac - I agree with Mr. Oliver. Celery root, aka celeriac, is super underrated and, what looks kind of intimidating, is actually super easy and versatile.

Oven Baked Trout with Crushed Potatoes - Head-on trout, butterflied trout is nothing to fear. In fact, I find it way easier to cook whether on the grill or baked in a foil pouch like in this recipe. And definitely use the beautiful Pinto Gold potatoes (I seriously love this variety).
