Something New in the Mix...

Good Morning!

Just a few notes:

First, THANK YOU for returning all of the ice packs and reusable bags to us this week. It is a huge help in our effort to be a low waste company.

Second, our team is growing! We are looking for folks to join our delivery team on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It's flexible work, the gear is cool, and there are always snacks. :) If you know someone who might be interested, give us a shout at hello@sharefamilydinner.com!

We hope everyone had a great week and gets some time to relax this weekend!

SOMETHING NEW IN THE MIX

Working with other small local businesses is one of the highlights of our work. This week we are excited to team up with Carolyn's Farm Kitchen to bring her delicious pancake mix into your homes to level up your breakfast. Is there anything better than sitting in front of a giant pile of pancakes? (Am I the only one who will eat them cold, hours later? Maybe.)

We asked Carolyn about the business and the products. She said: "In business since 2010, we are a very small husband-wife team based in Haverhill, MA.   Our products (Farm Baking Mixes, Jams, & Preserves) are made from original recipes created by Carolyn over the years as a farm chef, with the mission of celebrating the growing seasons here in New England and incorporating local farm crops in the kitchen.  All of our products are handmade in small batches (by Carolyn), using premium all-natural ingredients...real food.  We love what we do, and hope you taste the difference!"

And about working with other small local businesses, she adds:

"In this era of big box stores and chains, it's so special to be connected to our customers and the community, and to partner with other small local businesses!  Many of us share similar passions, challenges, and experiences, and it's wonderful that we can lift each other up and support each other!"

We love that, maybe even more than pancakes.

*Strawberries - One of the farmers told me to tell you that you should eat these quickly. These are the first strawberries of the season, they are not as hard as the strawberries brought in from California, and they do not last as long as they do. However, they are so delicious I have a hard time believing they'll last too long anyway!

RECIPES

(from Shannon)

I want to see what you're making! Send pics of your creations and other recipes over to recipes@sharefamilydinner.com for us to highlight!

Grilled Steelhead Trout - Who needs to turn on the oven when you can just light up the grill?

Garlic Scape Pesto - Every year I look forward to making scape pesto! Add it to pasta, a grain bowl, or a flatbread pizza shell?? And if you do the flat bread with the pesto, add those baby greens, too!

Collard Greens - So many options with collard greens. Between braising, stewing, and sautéing, you can clear out other ingredients from your pantry, fridge, or freezer.

Mushroom Kebabs - While the grill is already on for the fish or veggie burgers, why not throw on some skewers with mushies on them? :)

Strawberry Pancakes. That's it. DO IT. Yum.

Quickle Radish - Building on the grilled items, why not make a quick pickle (quickle) radish to add some tanginess to your meal, too!

Lett-uce talk about lettuce--in a sammy, as a salad, mini boat of flavor, you can do a lot with head lettuces!

Pan-Seared Scup - because why not?! Looks delicious!

Vegetable Storage Tips from my Grannie: There are a few things that come in the shares that I save for my grandmother because she loves them, e.g., A&J King Graham Crackers and Swiss Chard. A few weeks ago when we had chard I gave her a bunch. When I called her this week, she wanted me to share with everyone that if you put the whole bunch in a plastic bag (that is reused over and over again) and in the fridge, the bunch will still be good and delicious over 2 weeks later. She steamed it like spinach. :)

Want to share recipes that wow'ed you or show off something incredible that is just going to make me hungry while checking emails? (Or send us pics of your dog with your share??)  Drop us a line over at recipes@sharefamilydinner.com. We'll be highlighting your recipes and creations in coming weeks!  (I am loving all the things you have sent! Stay tuned for highlights coming soon!)
