Hello, wonderful people!

Olivia (aka Liver) here with some reminders/advice on how to get the most out of your Family Dinner subscription:

  1. Skipping: It really, REALLY helps us if you skip BEFORE orders process early Monday morning.  Please email us by Sunday evening if you'd like us to skip for you!
     
  2. Allergies/Aversions: Not a fan of mushrooms?  Fridge overflowing with eggs?  Send us an email and we'll add a note to your account to substitute for those items when they're part of the shares.
     
  3. Reusable bags/Ice packs: Please leave them out for drivers to collect and return to home base.  We'll get them cleaned up and back into rotation. 
     
  4. Traveling?  Keep the following in mind:
    • You can take us with you!  Get in touch and we'll put together a custom package of goodies to keep you sated while you're enjoying the Cape or Bar Harbor.
    • Expecting to be away for several weeks or months?  We can put your subscription on hold for you or advance your order processing date so you don't have to remember to skip.
    • MA customers: Away just on delivery day?  Depending on where you live, we can shift you from Saturday to Tuesday or vice versa.
       
  5. Something amiss?  Curious about x, y, z?  Send us an email!  We want to know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE when something's off so that we can make it right!  Got a random question?  We'll do our best to get you answers pronto!

One Pot Pasta with Chard and Sausage - Y'all know my affinity for one pot meals! Here's another great one! 

How to Spaghetti Squash - Y'all can only imagine how quickly I texted Tyler from Brookford back when they offered us spaghetti squash! Nature (and human intervention) is pretty cool in creating this magnificent squash. And you can make a gorgeous dinner with your squash and salmon too! 

Leek and Tomato Tart - I got really excited when Jill from Moose Hill told me they had leeks this week and all I was dreaming about was a leek tomato tart.... Mmmmm!

Cantaloupe Salsa - Want to jazz up your melon? Try it out as a salsa! Maybe use it top Grilled Fluke, too!

RECIPES (ME/NH)

Holy crap. This week's share is screaming AUGUST IN MAINE. Cod, bluefish, corn, blueberries, cucumbers, tomatoes... I'm quivering with delight.

Seared Bluefish with Charred Corn, Warm Tomato Salad - AUGUST IN MAINE. Quintessential summertime eating and plenty of ways to riff on the salad. Could definitely sub the bluefish with cod here, too.

Corn and Tomato Salad - AUGUST IN MAINE. One of the tastiest summer side dishes of all time. Def serve alongside any protein but especially seafood. Also great heaped on some toasted bread.

Corn on the Cob - AUGUST IN MAINE. Okay... I'll stop. To me, there're two ways to do corn on the cob:

  • Grilled - peel back (but not off!) the husks, remove silks, pull husks back up. Soak in water for ~30 min. Grill for around 15 min., turning every few minutes. Remove husks and throw back on the grill to get some nice charred bits.
  • Boiled - place shucked corn in pot of boiling water (enough to cover by an inch or so), cover, turn off heat. It'll be ready to go in ~10 min.

Strip Steaks - This technique was a revelation for home cooks and has been our preferred way of cooking steaks and chops for many a moon. Pretty dang fool proof.

Cucumber Tea Sandwiches with Herby Cream Cheese - These are too precious. And 100% worth it.

Blueberry Tequila Smash - This is a perfect summer refresher. Smashes are wonderful for two reasons: 1. They're damn delicious. 2. They take a bit of extra time and effort which keeps you honest-ish.
