Let's Talk Treats.

Let's Talk Treats.

Let's Talk Treats.

It's finally Fall, I suppose. The leaves are threatening to tumble, it's pitch black when we wake up for work and your vegetable garden has started to look like something out of a Salvador Dali painting, all droopy and distorted.

But even the chill in the air and in our general political climate can't prevent small moments of joy from sneaking into your day - like the little weekly treats we sneak into your bags.

Now, we know that mini cookies and brownies aren't going to bring back the strawberries of June, the cherry tomatoes of August, or cure what feels like an absolute dumpster fire of a year - but we do hope they bring you a moment of whimsy and deliciousness to your day.

This week we have a new baker to highlight and we're so excited to have her on board.

"Chef Robbi Mills-Sarafinas has been baking for as long as she can remember. While it was originally used as a channel to simply satisfy her sweet tooth, she quickly fell in love with the creative outlet that it provided. The desire to share her delicious, meticulously designed cookies led her to the creation of Butter Block Cookie Shop

Robbi has been fortunate during her career to work in almost all areas of the industry-from small, independent kitchens to large, mass production facilities; she has worked both back and front of the house, progressing from student to instructor with so many positions in between!

While the ultimate goal is for Butter Block to have its own storefront; right now sales are all strictly online, produced in a shared kitchen, and shipped throughout the United States. Focused on cookies and specializing in custom, royal icing decorated short dough, Butter Block Cookie Shop hopes to help make everyone's life a little sweeter."

We hope you love it and it brings a bit of fun to your morning!

Post-Scriptum:

And to the many voices who have called out asking for more treats as add-ons - we hear you and we are working on it! Your emails, IG messages, carrier pigeons, and spray painted messages across our driveway (looking at you, Michelle) have not gone unnoticed. We are actively working to build out our add-on sections and to improve the weekly "shopping" experience.  Our website team is toiling furiously in the background to roll this out to you in the coming weeks - stay tuned!

RECIPES

Chicken and Vegetable Curry: This requires a few more pantry items than we usually go for - curry paste, coconut milk etc- but those are great items to have on hand as fall stew season approaches. This curry can be a home to lots of the veggies that are still lurking around from last week.

Monkfish: Simple tomato and garlic bath for this delicious fish. Have capers on hand? Add a nice pinch.

Broccoli Rabe: Easy, easy. If you have a nice parm you want to shave over it at the end, go for it. You could serve as a side with chicken, fish or sausage.
