Sweet Dreams are Made of Cheese.

Sweet Dreams are Made of Cheese.

Good Morning!

We are finally moving into our new kitchen this weekend! After 3 years of working out of Foundation Kitchen in Somerville we signed a lease on a new space in Woburn in the summer. Now after what feels like 1 billion years of waiting, a metric ton of dizzying paper work and innumerable trips to Lowe's - we are ready to go!

This Saturday will be our first day packing shares in this shiny new space. The team met yesterday to go over processes and to cram pizza into our faces while listening to "90's Pop Party" on Spotify.  Nothing says "operational efficiency" and "safety protocols" quite like TLC's "Waterfalls".

As much as we are hoping to knock it out of the proverbial park on day 1, there may be some hiccups along the way that cause delivery delays. We appreciate your support and patience are we move into this new phase of Family Dinner; as we indeed go chasing waterfalls and don't stick to the rivers and the lakes that we're used to.*

Much Love,

Erin, Tim and the Family Dinner Team

*Please excuse the exaggerated TLC reference. It's early and we are under-caffeinated.

Sweet Dreams are Made of Cheese.

This week we were really excited to connect with Local Goods Gathered in Maine. This group was founded during the pandemic to help promote Maine artisan cheese makers by helping to get their cheese direct to consumers. We're getting cheeses from a variety of their makers to bring to you this week. (Yes! It's cheese two weeks in a row! Time for a cheese board, some vino and episodes of Cobra Kai on Netflix. Is that just me?)

One of these farms is Winter Hill Farm in Maine. (Note: in MAINE, not Somerville. Important distinction for those of you wondering if the ghost of Whitey Bulger and the Winter Hill gang rose to take up an interest in fromage.) I digress.

"Set atop a hill surrounded by woods and rolling pasture in the beautiful southern midcoast region of Maine, Winter Hill Farm is a small, family run farm in Freeport, Maine. Steve and Sarah, along with their children Isaac and Calla, manage a herd of very rare Randall cattle alongside grass-fed Jersey cows. Their mission is to provide the local community with high quality, wholesome products while maintaining the integrity of the natural environment.

All their cheeses are handmade in small batches using milk produced on their farm by their cows, as well as certified organic milk from The Milkhouse in Monmouth, Maine. Sustaining the land, the environment, their family, and their community is the motivation for all they do at Winter Hill Farm, and they love good food."

We hope that you love this cheese as much as we do and that you give Cobra Kai on Netflix a chance.

RECIPES

Blue Fish: Super easy to cook but it will spoil quickly, best eaten within a day or two. This recipe can be grilled, baked or broiled. And the "sauce" is easy to riff on based on what your tastebuds rejoice for.

Grilled Calamari: These are the basics to grilling. Martha says the key to cooking is either really fast or really slow, the in betweens will leave you with something chewy. I will make a rustic tomato sauce with capers and onions and serve with bread.

Calamari on Pasta: Sunday is complete.

Sweet and Spicy Brussels Sprouts: Of course you can simply roast them, but I love the addition of soy and hoisin for a different flavah.
