Good morning friends,

Easter is right around the corner and Joe put together a delightful little pop up in the store to celebrate. There are fan favorites such as bagels from Mamaleh's, pasture raised lamb from Clark Farm, and this stunning smoked brisket from the Rusty Can. The brisket is a dream, smoked for hours by Sully and his team before being chopped and taking a dip in his house made sweet and tangy BBQ sauce.

Maybe you're asking yourself: is it too early for this near pornographic close up of smoked meats? Absolutely not, and we will not be taking any further questions.

Maybe Easter is not your thing and celebrating 4/20 is a bit more your speed. Either way you can worship on high with all the best goodies for brunch. If you're looking for something special that you don't see - you can always email us, hello@sharefamilydinner. com. We are here for you.

And now, let's move away from irreverent humor that borders on sacrilege and onto something more serious with almost no segue. There is a fascinating article in the opinion section of the New York Times today by Deborah Bloom about the current administration and the future of food and food safety in US. It's a great read and here is good nugget to summarize:

"The F.D.A. has already indicated that it will conduct fewer food and drug safety investigations because of its greatly reduced staff. Spending limits imposed on government agencies are also so tight that it’s unclear if the remaining researchers will be able to purchase food to be tested.

While Mr. Kennedy has loudly promised a better regulation of food additives, he’s quietly undermining the ability to do that work. As an example, the latest round of cuts decimated the staff of a laboratory dedicated to testing for bacteria and toxic substances in food, such as heavy metal contamination."

It's all a lot to process, particularly in this overwhelming and baffling climate.

But there is good news. Your local farmers, makers and producers are continuing in the background to do the good work they have always done. Growing food and raising animals the right way; free of chemicals, free of pesticides. Companies like ours work with them to bring those incredible products right to your door, so your food isn't traveling thousands of miles through a messy and complicated supply chain.

The good work is still being done and we thank you for being a part of it.

Recipes

Hake Chowder - Hake is kinda magical. This cousin-of-cod is super sustainable. "Underutilized" is what we call it. It cooks moist and delicate and flaky. I especially love it broiled but our bud's at Luke's Lobster do an amazing Hake Chowder. And you can too.

Mushroom Risotto - Mmmmm... One of my fav things. Unpopular opinion: you do not need to babysit risotto, constantly stirring. Do your thing. Multitask. Come back to it after you throw the laundry in the dryer. It'll be fine.

Saag Paneer - Very excited to see greens coming back around. It's been a truly rough spring for the farmers we work with. And what better way to honor their efforts than Saag Paneer?
