Fancy Frenchies.
Behold the palmier, a delightful cookie and this week's treat from A&J King Bakery. The palmier, short for feuille de palmier, "leaf of a palm tree" in French is a treat that dates back to the 20th century and has been copied around the world.
Palmiers are made of a dough that's rolled over and over to create a multitude of crunchy, buttery layers. It's a flaky buttery gift from heaven.
Palmiers, while French in name origin are called "eyeglasses" in Greek and in Catalonia. In some places they are called butterflies, which also makes sense. The Germans are known to call them Schweineohren, or "pigs ears" which even for a girl whose last name is Baumgartner - makes no damn sense.
These delights are this week's highlight from A&J King along with their beautiful Anadama bread.
So many of you tell us that your Family Dinner deliveries are like Christmas morning. That it is fun to unpack and discover what's in the shares. We love this comment more than anything! Each week we plan the treat as a moment of fun, and whimsy as you open your shares. To remember that food can be fun, joyful, and sometimes as silly as a Schweineohren.
We hope this delivery brings a bit of fun into your week. We can't wait to see what you make.
Hugs,
Erin and Tim

RECIPES
Ricotta Toast: Toast up a nice slice of the anadama from A&J King and cover it up with a sweet or savory mix. This recipe calls for tomatoes, but you could also just do a drizzle of honey and a pinch of salt.
Cucumber Melon Salad: Completely editable. Skip the cheese, keep the cheese. Add some onion skip the onion. Whatever your heart desires.
Grilled Eggplant: While you're firing up the grill for your chicken and sausages, slice the eggplant, give it a nice olive oil bath and throw 'em on there.
