Good morning friends,

Just a couple quick things on this chilly Friday morning (it's the atmosphere that's icy, not your cold dead hearts).

Thanksgiving! The deadline to order your birds is Sunday night! You can find them and all the other goodies here in the Thanksgiving store. Don't forget to double up on stuffing from Forge Baking Co.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated. Our big donation day will be on Tuesday so there are still ways to chip in:

If you want to chip in you can either donate to them directly via that link or donate via the Family Dinner page.
If you are a Family Dinner customer (hi! we love you!) you can also donate any of your upcoming shares in your account section.
We will be running a dry goods food drive. If you want to leave items out, over the next two weeks drivers will collect them and we will deliver directly to smaller food banks in need. Helpful items include sugar, cooking oil, canned tuna, peanut butter and other staples. THANK YOU!

Where do salmon cash their checks?

The riverbank! (I apologize for who I am as a person).

Joe got salmon from Red's Best this week and boy oh boy are we excited. I'm going to make a dijon coated salmon. The mustard blanket brings a punchy flavor to the fish and keeps it really moist as you cook it. Let us know what you do with your cuts - share it on the socials @sharefamilydinner

Random Pontification that is not tied to food:

Walks in the woods have become a near daily necessity, a chance to turn down the noise, untether from the news cycle and silence the clickety clack of the keyboard(s). On a walk this week I saw a woman swooshing through the multicolor carpet of leaves, quietly joyful. She paused and bent to pick one up, one leaf plucked from the immeasurable crowd. She turned it in her hand, held it to the sun for a moment, then tucked it into her pocket and continued on.

I had so many questions; why that leaf? Why just the one? What happens when it dries and crumbles in your pocket like a Nature's Valley granola bar?

None of those questions could be asked, so I just copied her. Looked down to find something beautiful, held it in my paw for a moment and just enjoyed the silent beauty of that small thing.

This weekend, I hope something brings you a moment of quiet joy. Be it an oatmeal raisin cookies (or two!) from A&J King, the wag of your dog's tail or one perfect leaf, I hope something shimmers and makes you smile.

Recipes

Parsnip Apple Purée - It's apple and parsnip season! For me, the first thing that's getting whipped up (so to speak) is this. I dare say this gives mashed potatoes a run for their money (no it doesn't).

Lemon Chicken Kale Salad - Tasty. And massage the heck out of the kale. Tenderize with abandon.

Stuffed Acorn Squash - Classic, easy, satisfying. Sweet enough that kids may even like it. But probably not.
