YOUR NEW PLAYLIST
This year, for several reasons, we are going to skip the saccharinated salute to motherhood and Mother's Day. Firstly, we already did that last year. Secondly, when we love folks we should tell them all.the.damn.time - not just one day a year. It's easy, watch.
"Hey, you. Yeah you, dear reader. I think you're great. Sure the dishes aren't done and your car is untidy - but you're pretty wonderful and I hope something nice happens to you today."
Easy peasy, your turn.
Moving on. In lieu of accolades we're going with arias.
We asked the team to name their favorite song with the word "mother" in it OR a song that just makes them think OF their mother. We're serious business people.
Here is what they drummed up:
Maddie
"This song makes me think of my mom because she always plays it passive aggressively when I'm in a terrible mood. And she dances to it and her dancing is so bad that unfortunately her plan works"
Soph
"My mom really enjoys Stevie Wonder, so while a lot of his music reminds me of her “I Just Called To Say I Love You” probably fits this prompt best! She loves to chat, and, while I don’t do it often enough, I love calling her just to tell her about something that reminded me of her :)"
Bridget
"Mine is really cheesy and not cool at all, but it's Candle On the Water by Helen Reddy from the movie Pete's Dragon. My mom loves that song and used to sing it to me all the time. The lyrics make me cry." Great. Now there's something in MY eye too.
Michelle
"Rockabye Baby"
"What came to mind for me is my mom used to sing us to sleep when we were little." Awwww.
Joe
"It’s impossible not to bang heads on this cautionary track about protecting your little ones from guys like Glenn. And it’s an A+ karaoke song. Even Mom thinks so."
Cathryn
"Mama said there’d be days like this, there’d be days like this, my mama said!” Always a word to let us know we were always gonna face the tough days but that’s what made the good days right behind it so GOOD!!"
Leslie - daughter of the world renowned Janet Brown
"We're talking about Janet afterall, whose credo is that any day you wake up rain or shine is another chance at making the world a better place."
Caroline
Caroline chose this for the simple reason: "I know my mom would cover for me if I killed someone." Scaramouche , indeed!
And mine is simply the British National Anthem "God Save the Queen" because Sally is regal and magnificent (see above photo for proof). It is a honor and a privilege to ride shotgun in life with you, momma.
Have a wonderful weekend folks, we hope its delightful.
Erin, Joe, our Moms and the whole Family Dinner Fam.
