Now that it's hotter than Hades, it's officially grilling season. The time of year where I vacate an entire drawer in the fridge and load it up with grillable vittles that can all be cooked with one hand, whilst the other cradles a cold one.

It comes to save the day when you're staring down some suspect veggies and contemplating the tyranny of expiration dates. Think savory pancakes, smoothies for days and fried rice fit for a queen. (A drag queen that is, sorry Ronnie D.)

Tim and I long dreamt of writing a similar tome, we would have titled it: "Don't Throw that Away I'll Eat It!". The Li sisters work is much more instructive, creative and filled with fewer curse words than what we would have penned. It is remarkable.

Grilled Sausage and Onions: Those bunched onions are so nice lightly grilled, you don't have to go all Fenway Park and cook the onions to death. Less time on the heat will keep their texture. USE THEIR GREENS AS A GARNISH! Yum!

Tuna and Broccoli: Seasame tuna steaks and a garlicky broccoli. Amazing and simple. I like to keep the tuna on the rare side but that's all a matter of preference. If you're feeling fancy, haul out the sous vide for this one.

Strawberries: they are summer perfection. Just wash and enjoy.

Costillas a la Riojana (Argentine Pork Chops With Fried Eggs and Vegetables) - I know it's become a bit cliché but I'm still on board with throwing eggs on just about anything. And besides, this recipe predates the put-an-egg-on-it era.

Grilled Bok Choy - Might as well throw on some veg since you've already got the grill fired up for...

...Marinated & grilled salmon - Unfussy but punched up with some aromatics and spiciness. For a bit more detail on grilling salmon, read on.

BBQ Tempeh - A fine alternative to serve alongside some grilled bok choy.

Grilled Spiced Cauliflower Recipe - First cauliflower of the season! Folks are calling this sort of preparation "cauliflower steaks" and I can totally get on board with that but you can play with the flavor way more here than on a piece of beef.
