Good Morning!
A few quick notes:
Cucumbers: We ordered cucumbers this week for the whole and double shares through an organic farm collective, and we were so excited to see them on the list. We learned late that these came from L'Abri Vegetal, an organic farm in Quebec.
And while we love poutine, think Justin Trudeau is dreamy and know at least 40% of the words to "O Canada", Quebec doesn't fit our definition of local, or yours. This will not happen again, please accept our apologies.
Timing: Due to the increase in volume of deliveries, we know that the original 10-1pm delivery window has expanded. We hope that the new 2 hour delivery window text is helpful and we appreciate your patience! The team is continuing to work to improve on this.
We welcome any feedback on how we can improve on Family Dinner and make it a better experience for you!
High Fives!
Erin, Tim, and the Fam
SUPPORT LOCAL (Sports!!!!)
Your Family Dinner team is made up of a small but wonderful crew of packers, email responders, drivers, play list creators and mid-shift Cookie Monsters. Outside of Family Dinner they are teachers, health care professionals, life long nerds, lawyers and ... Semi-Pro Women's Football players?
Yes, indeed. Many members of the Family Dinner team and loyal customer base (hello, Ty Lobster!) are part of the Boston Renegades, a women's Semi-Professional Tackle Football team. To say these women a formidable force is an understatement of magnificent proportions. They are some of the best athletes in the country, coming off an undefeated season where they captured the city’s fifth professional women’s football championship since 2010, and the team’s second in a row.
And now you get to get an up-close look into the team and the grit, passion and general bad-assery that burns at its core.
THIS WEDNESDAY, July 1st ESPN will be airing "Born to Play" a documentary about the Renegades by Viridiana Lieberman. Lieberman spent a season with the team on a path for redemption after going undefeated and losing their championship the previous year. “Born to Play” takes an intimate look at a group of powerful competitors who come together to commit everything they have to their sport for nothing more than the love of the game.
Anyone who knows anything about women's sports knows how brutal it is to get attention or recognition for your sport, never mind equal pay (I love you Megan Rapinoe!).
This documentary, airing on prime time on the main ESPN channel is an amazing feat for this team. A chance to be seen for their skill, sacrifice, pursuit of perfection and their dedication to each other.
So Wednesday 8pm, you have a date with ESPN and 50 or so very tough women. You won't want to miss this.

RECIPES
Swiss Chard Chorizo Rice Bowl: This is from the NYT, maybe the best source of recipes we have found.
Swiss Chard Chorizo Pasta: This will also make a very fine dish with any dry pasta you have kicking around. You can omit the beans, we will.
Slow Baked Salmon with Onions: The slow approach will make for a moister, more delicate fish. Could also top that delish fish with the Haydari from Magic Bites.
