Holy Shishito!

(Do I repeat that email title roughly every year at this time? I sure do.

Have I gotten any positive feedback from our customers that they like that joke and would love to see more of it? I have not.)

This week we have beautiful shishito peppers from Clark Farm. These guys are a mostly sweet Japanese variety of pepper. The sweet facade holds an exciting secret, however. About one in every 10 -20 of these wrinkly little wonders is sneaky hot. So spin the wheel and let us know what you get!

The most popular preparation and by far the easiest is to blister them in a smoking hot pan to sear the shishito out of them - cast iron is best. Once they blister take 'em off that heat and sprinkle a flaky salt on them. The KITCHN has a few ideas of other dips, sauces and coatings but your girl over here keeps it simple.

Maybe you're not ready to say goodbye to summer. Maybe you're like me and still want to think there are days ahead of playing hooky at the beach with a cold beer and an Italian sammy. If so, the KITCHN has you back here too with a shishito pepper margarita.

I don't mean to tell you what to do, I don't want to get jalapeño your business, but cook these guys right away. The fresher, the better.

Honey-Soy Glazed Salmon With Bok Choy - Quick and easy. Which we could all use more of these days.

Roasted Cauliflower Steaks - Oh man. BURNT VEG. This is super tasty and remarkably satisfying.

Butternut Squash Soup - I literally just now pulled the ACs out of the windows and turned the heat on. If only some butternut squash soup would suddenly appear. Well, this is so damn easy to whip up that it verges on magic.
