Bobby Vs. the Stripahs
Hi everyone, it’s Em here with another newsletter! I hope you are enjoying your week, getting lots of sun, and eating all of the good early summer produce that is beginning to pop up for the season. I cannot wait until I am able to get my hands on some fresh strawberries! We are currently accepting our
Father’s Day preorders and in that spirit I wanted to tell you about my dad this week!
It’s 5 am and you’re looking over the calm, blue Atlantic Ocean. It has yet to be disrupted by the chaos of the day. My dad looks over the horizon, casting his fishing line on an old, unnamed, green-hulled Jones Brothers boat. Things are serene. He likes to go out there looking for striped bass, or “stripahs,” as he calls them in his thick Boston accent. When I was little my dad tried to teach me how to fish but I was too impatient. Instead, I just liked spending time with him next in the calmness of the ocean. Now we spend our summers riding on his boat, letting our troubles drown out by the sound of the crashing waves.
Just like the people here at Family Dinner wear many hats, my dad goes by many names. To most he is known as Bob or Bobby, to his friends “Fudge” or “Skip,” but most importantly, my sister and I call him Dad. He taught me how to grill (don’t forget those pre orders, folks!), gave me my love of 90s rock, history, and all things extraterrestrial, and has been my biggest supporter through it all. Everyone should sit by the ocean with a box of Cheezits (extra toasty, to be exact) and honor the dads in your life this Father’s Day.
We understand that for some Father’s Day is a day of celebration with family while for others it is another day that is difficult to get through. To all the dads out there we truly salute you! To all of the folks who are missing dads, are tending to their dads, or may have never met their dads at all, we are sending you space and so many hugs during this difficult holiday.
If you would like to treat your dad, or even yourself, to some fantastic grillables, we have our
Father's Day preorders live until the end of the day Monday, June 15th. Get your orders in so you can treat your favorite person to some tasty goodies. I know I am personally eyeing the
Stuffed Quahog’s from Red’s Best for Bobby, but you know your dad the best so check out our selection to see what he would like!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend, Em and the Family Dinner crew
