We have had a few customers tell us about their love for certain products. Meg told us that she has a deep, personal connection to the pecan rolls from Iggy's Bread. We heard from Amy that wants to be in a committed, serious relationship with the Chorizo from Tad at Feather Brook Farms. 

We hear you and we get it. We have similar food crushes and cravings. Can we get more Lion's Mane mushrooms in our lives? Can Red's always be pulling fresh scallops out of the ocean? We have started longing for certain ingredients the way we pine after dishes from our childhood. Dad's eggs and grits, Mom's chicken croquettes and beef stew.  It's all becoming the Family in Family Dinner. We are giddy with delight. Thank you all for you love and support and for one year of Family Dinner.

** The Omnivore and Paleo Whole and Double Shares received a half-chicken this week that was... how should we say... "well-endowed." We would typically send you a whole chicken that is about 4 lbs in weight, but this week, Tad from Feather Brook Farms explained that he had some bigger birds available, with half-birds weighing in at 3-4 lbs.  We wanted to highlight this because it's a little different than normal, but it's the type of mutually beneficial relationship we have with farmers, which results in the delivery of great food to you, while also reducing waste in the food system.



RECIPES

Coq au Vin: Chicken in wine? Yes, please. This is a Sunday afternoon recipe, it takes a bit of time but the house will smell amazing and you'll have delightful chicken for days. As Bon Appetit says " Don't Psych yourself out" on this dish. It looks complicated but its pretty flexible if you are missing an ingredient and want to sub out for others (I add potatoes!)

Swordfish with Tomatoes and Capers: Bright, delicious and simple. Any type of sweet, local tomato will do beautifully here.

Fresh Mozzarella Panzanella: If your bread survives until Monday this tomato and Fresh Mozzarella salad will be a great use for your remaining grain. The juice from the tomatoes and the cheese softens the bread wonderfully. This salad wants you to know its still summer, people.

Vegan Sausage and Potatoes: This website, BreadBoozeBacon is a new favorite, even for just the name alone! Obviously skipping the kielbasa here and subbing in the Plant Deli sausage. I'm adding onions and carrots to this and a poached egg, just for fun.
