Back to School
Happy Friday All,
Only Odysseus, at the end of his epic 10 year journey home, could understand the relief of parents of young children as September, and hence the start of the academic year, rises on the calendar.
Summer has been long, camp-ful and well... sticky. It will be good to hose the children off, throw them on the bus and actually enjoy a complete thought for what feels like the first time since our hero left the isle of Ithaca.
(Sidenote on buses: Years ago "This American Life" on NPR hosted something called "The Show of Delights" including the poet Ross Gay. Gay wrote The Book of Delights, which is, itself, delightful, and a beaming ray of sunshine in these stormy times. Gift it to yourself or anyone else who needs a literary tickle. The Show of Delights also has a segment called the Squeals on the Bus about a little kiddo who is so AMPED to the take the bus for the first time that he may explode and start orbiting the stratosphere. I have talked about this segment many times. It's only 4 minutes long and if it doesn't make you smile you may wish to call your cardiologist.)
We have your Back to School Back!
We know this time of year is hectic so we have all the easy school/office lunches to make things just one step easier in our Back to School collection. Atomic coffee, sliced cheese, pizza, peanut butter and all the little snacks to keep the hangry at bay.
Still Laboring!
And while we are eking out every last bit of joy summer has to offer - take a look at the Labor Day collection. Pulled Pork and cornbread from the Rusty can, all the meats your grill can handle and even the chips and dip to keep the crowd happy. And we're even doing a little giveaway when you drop $100 or more of some fancy steaks in your cart. Check/click the banner at the top of familydinner.com for deets.
That's all for now. Have a wonderful weekend folks, we hope its delicious.
Cheers,
Erin
